Provides care for patients in specialty clinic or physician practice settings utilizing basic nursing practice knowledge and skills. Scheduled Weekly Hours: Tuesday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Friday: 12:00 to 5:00 PM. Essential Functions include providing patient care based upon individualized plan of care as delegated by the Registered Nurse/Provider including patient's physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, psychosocial, and educational needs; assisting provider with examinations, procedures and other activities related to patient care; arranging for patient appointments for diagnostic testing, consults, referrals and admission to hospital; monitoring and maintaining stock of medical supplies and proper functioning of equipment; documenting patient's vital statistics and other encounter data into patient chart and ensuring all required records are in the chart; obtaining brief medical history and chief complaint from patients; promoting positive health behaviors and self-care skills through patient education; preparing exam rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment; cleaning exam rooms between exams and procedures; receiving and returning clinically related telephone calls and messages; screening and forwarding those requiring provider action; completing medical/physical history forms and other related information for insurance companies; may administer oral and injectable medications as directed by a provider; administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol; serving as a role model and participating in educating and mentoring other members of the care team; attending department and organization meetings; completing annual and as needed compliance training; practicing safe, efficient use of supplies and resources; maintaining a clean, safe, and caring environment for patients, family and other staff; assuming responsibility for one’s own professional development and continuing education; may serve as a preceptor, unit champion, or participate in shared governance; adhering to all compliance, policies and procedures of the organization; performing other duties as assigned. This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. Minimum Requirements: Completion of an LPN program recognized by the State Board of Nursing. No experience required. In lieu of completion of a LPN program, will accept program equivalency recognized by the State Board of Nursing. Required Certifications: Holds a current LPN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or is licensed to practice as an LPN in the state the team member is working. If an LPN team member working in this position obtains RN licensure, Prisma Health will accept RN licensure for a limited time until the team member can be placed in an RN position. Team members should immediately notify their manager and Talent Acquisition if they are scheduled to sit for the NCLEX-RN exam or have obtained RN licensure.
