Overview

The Communications and PR Coordinator advances external and internal communications initiatives related to the firm and its people, clients, and culture. Reporting to the Communications and PR Senior Manager, the Communications and PR Coordinator prepares materials to boost the visibility of the firm and its lawyers with the media and in other public forums. This includes identifying story ideas, developing media lists, arranging interviews, coaching interviewees, and monitoring media coverage. The individual also develops and edits content for distribution across the firm’s social media and other digital platforms and for distribution in various channels inside the firm, including creating content for the firm’s public website and intranet. The coordinator regularly interfaces with lawyers and other business staff members on various projects. The position is based in Chicago.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with media monitoring process, track article and commentary placements, and produce daily media clips reports.
  • Partner closely with key stakeholders to understand their communications needs and work closely with them on content development.
  • Produce website, intranet, and social media copy for media mentions, client matter successes (e.g., litigation, deal wins).
  • Produce write-ups for “Articles of Interest” for external distribution (internal/external).
  • Build practice-, industry- and issue-focused media lists and develop and maintain relationships with key legal, business, and industry trade media, as assigned.
  • Coordinate placement bylined articles in external publications.
  • Support development of speaking points and other materials for media interviews and firm-related events.
  • Assist with drafting copy for the firm’s external submissions for legal directories, awards, and surveys, working with lawyers and practice leaders to draft and submit nominations, and promote award wins, as assigned.
  • Draft, manage and curate content for distribution across the firm’s website and social media channels, with the goal of driving engagement and raising brand awareness.
  • Track social media analytics and report insights and trends to help enhance the firm's social media strategy and drive engagement.
  • Identify opportunities for creative campaigns across various social platforms, and maintain content calendar of this and other content planned for social media.
  • Track PR vendor/tool contracts to ensure we maximize full scope of services.
  • Draft bios, press releases, social media posts and announcements in support of lateral attorney integration.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Diversity & Inclusion, Pro Bono, Professional Development, Recruiting, Alumni, and Human Resources to develop content for internal and external digital communications.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. English, communications, journalism, or other writing focused major strongly preferred.

Experience: Minimum three years of experience required. Prior law firm experience preferred.
