Job Description

What to Expect As a Software Engineer on Tesla's Payments Team, you will be instrumental in developing the infrastructure that drives our global financial operations. You'll architect and implement robust payment systems, collaborate across engineering, finance, and product teams, and ensure our financial platforms scale with Tesla's rapid innovation and global expansion. What You'll Do

  • Design, develop and scale core payment infrastructure
  • Directly work with internal and external stakeholders to understand pain points, proposing solutions, and shipping them
  • Re-think and design the reconciliation platform from 0 to 1 with an AI-first vision
  • Own end-to-end the complete lifecycle of all offline payments at Tesla
  • Identify and incorporate AI Agents to increase automation
  • Implement orchestration engines for reliability and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Improve the reliability and observability of the Payment platforms at Tesla
  • Apply software engineering best practices - including version control, testing, CI/CD, and containerization
What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science, or a related field-or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including designing and operating production systems at scale
  • Experience architecting and maintaining distributed systems, with deep familiarity in container orchestration, service deployment, and infrastructure operations
  • Demonstrated ability to set up robust observability systems from scratch, including distributed tracing, logging, and metrics pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration platforms and self-hosting complex infrastructure components in high-availability environments
  • Experience building AI agents or integrating intelligent systems into real-world applications, with an understanding of system-level design considerations for AI-powered functionality
  • Exposure to the payments or financial systems space is a strong plus

Expected Compensation • Sr Software Development Engineer - $156,256 - $234,384/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
