This exciting role offers the opportunity to contribute to the marketing and promotion of Washington, DC as a premier destination for sports and special events. As a Sports and Events Intern, you will assist in various aspects of the Tourism, Sports, & Visitor Experience department's operations, including:
- Sports Management: Assisting with the management of the sports calendar, sports web page, and social media efforts related to sports in DC.
- Site Visits: Supporting the department with site visit/familiarization tour itineraries and logistics.
- Sales Support: Assisting sales managers with planning for appropriate sports events and travel trade shows.
- CRM Management: Assisting in the management of Simpleview, the company's CRM system.
- Team Meetings: Attending weekly meetings with sports sales managers to stay informed and contribute to discussions.
- Bid Proposals: Supporting bid proposals for sports events and conventions.

Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities : - Assist with the management of the sports calendar, sports web page, and social media efforts related to sports in DC.
- Assist department with site visit/familiarization tour itineraries and logistics.
- Support sales managers with planning for appropriate sports events & travel trade shows on behalf of sports sales managers.
- Assist in the management of Simpleview, the company's CRM system.
- Attend weekly meetings with sports sales managers.
- Support bid proposals.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring: Education, Experience & Competencies: - You must be currently enrolled in college; must be junior or senior year college student, in good standing.
- Sports Management, Hospitality, Travel & Tourism, Marketing, and Event Planning majors strongly preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills required.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Social media experience a plus.
- Previous internship experience a plus.
- Eagerness to learn from a team of dynamic, engaged professionals working to promote Washington, DC and its vital hospitality and travel and tourism economy
- Demonstrated interest in the travel and tourism economy, enthusiasm for Washington, DC
Internship Specifics: Duration - Spring (January 13 - May 15).
- You must be available for in-office work 20-28 hours per week.
- Hours worked must be within the parameters of Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5pm EST to coincide with the operational hours of the office.
Work Environment: This Intern will follow Destination DC's policies for staff and may work hybrid, coming into the office at a minimum of two days a week and as determined by supervisor. Intern may work from the office on other days, too. Intern must have reliable internet to work remotely.
