Phlebotomist - Lab Assistant - Day Shift

Position Details:

• Hourly Base Rate: $20.03 - $25.49
• Shift: 0400 - 1430
• Shift Hours Per Week: 40 hours/week, 10-hour shifts
• SEIU Local 49 represented position

Job Summary:

• Obtains proper blood specimens from patients in the hospital.
• Prepares all specimens to reference laboratories.
• Collects appropriate control specimens as requested.
• Assists technologists and other personnel as time and training permits.
• Performs related clerical, billing and charting responsibilities.
• Identifies age specific phlebotomy needs of patients and implements appropriate procedures and processes.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Basic medical terminology.
• Understanding of medical ethics and handling of confidential information.
• Formal or on-the-job blood collection techniques.
• Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Previous exposure to Emergency Room and trauma situations.
