Position: Maintenance Trades Specialist II, Building Automation System Tech

Location: Chicago, IL

Salary Range: $28.05/hr - $42.10/hr

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

Responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance and basic technical repairs in various building and utility/support systems. Assists with maintaining life safety systems and required documentation.

Major Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance tasks and repairs on facility systems, documenting tasks through the computerized maintenance system.
• Assist in evaluating and troubleshooting basic building system failures and perform repairs as directed.
• Operate, monitor, and maintain basic Utility System Infrastructure.
• Assist in maintaining fire alarm and fire protection systems.
• Support the installation of building hardware, electrical devices, and wall finishes under supervision.
• Maintain preventive maintenance records and equipment repair files for compliance.
• Read blueprints, Life Safety drawings, and maintenance manuals to complete assignments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; technical training or certification preferred.
• Valid Drivers License.
• 2-4 years of experience in industrial/trades maintenance or operations.
• Intermediate computer skills (CMMS, Microsoft Office, Building Automation Systems).
• Good communication skills, ability to work with minimal oversight.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Must work shifts and participate in on-call duties.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift up to 15 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
• Exposure to electrical and mechanical hazards; safety precautions required.
• Travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade certificates or industry-recognized certifications.
• Additional 2+ years of relevant experience.
