Job Description: Lead Pipe & Utilities Equipment Operator

Our Oregon Team is rapidly growing in the Hermiston, Umatilla, and Boardman area. We provide our

clients with highly skilled teams that perform projects that include earthwork, underground utilities,

wastewater ponds, reclamation, compressor pump stations, gas processing facilities, wastewater

SRC is seeking to hire a Lead Pipe & Utilities Equipment Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to manage a team of heavy equipment operators, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and overseeing the quality and efficiency of all pipe and utility work. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communications skills, and extensive knowledge in pipe and utility installation and procedures. This position is based in Hermiston, Oregon and is full time year-round. The typical work schedule is 50-60 hours per week.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

· Operate and supervise the installation of pipes and utilities using heavy equipment and related machinery in a safe and efficient manner.

· Lead by example, operating various types of heavy equipment (e.g., excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, trenchers) for the installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, gas, stormwater pipelines and utilities.

· Plan and direct the work of the crew, ensuring proper scheduling and allocation of resources to meet project deadlines.

· Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other team leads to ensure effective communication and collaboration across job sites.

· Adhere to strict safety policies and procedures at all times.

· Perform related duties and responsibilities as required by the superintendent.

· Wear all company required Personal Protective Equipment.

· Perform daily equipment inspections checks. Ensure that the equipment is clean, properly shut

down, and stored at the end of the shift.

· Proven experience as a Heavy Civil Pipe and Utilities Equipment Operator, with a strong background in operating various types of heavy machinery.

· Expertise in pipeline installation, maintenance, and repair techniques.

· Experience installing industrial waste water, sewer, storm, and water conveyance systems; including pumpstation piping, storm water and industrial waste water ponds.

· High school degree or equivalent educational experience; vocational school or trade

apprenticeships a plus.

· OSHA 10/30 preferred but not required.

· Must be 18 years of age.

· Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, must meet company vehicle

insurance policy requirements.

· Positive attitude and work ethic.

· Able to work independently or as an active member of a team.

· Maintain cleanliness at the jobsite.

Working Environment and Conditions

This position requires working indoors and outdoors. While performing the duties of this job the

employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is regularly

exposed to wind, sun, rain, and cold weather.

Essential Job Functions

· Lift, carry and push/pull at least 50 pounds without difficulty.

· Be able to stand or walk on a project site for extended durations.

· Climb in and out of equipment.

· Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, management, and other co-workers, both individually and in front of a group is important.

· Ability to accurately layout and capture other trades layout is a critical component of this role.

· Standing for extended periods is common.

· Working in or around confined spaces.

· Climbing in and out of trenches.

· Taking directions from multiple teams in the field at any given time and prioritizing your responses.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
