Job Overview

Perform routine and advanced venipuncture and specimen collection procedures. Under supervision, execute laboratory analytical procedures related to preparing and storing human biological samples, blood, and body fluids for microbiological, hematological, immunohematological, and chemical analysis. Manage specimen processing, including loading samples onto analyzers, preparing slides, and transporting samples to other labs. Handle preanalytical functions such as releasing or placing orders in hospital and laboratory computer systems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program or 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience (clinical or hospital-based preferred).
• Preferred additional qualifications include:
  • Graduation from a certified health-related program at high school level or above, or
  • Successful completion of Advanced Placement courses in sciences at high school level, or
  • Science-based studies at college level (minimum 3 credit hours). GPA of 3.0 or above preferred.
• Computer skills with laboratory or hospital information systems.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
• Current CPR certification required.
