Job Summary:
As a Histology Technician II, you’ll play a vital role in supporting animal health diagnostics by preparing and analyzing tissue samples. Working onsite in a laboratory setting, you’ll independently manage embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation while ensuring adherence to quality and accuracy standards. This position supports the Global Diagnostics division at Zoetis, collaborating with pathologists and lab professionals to deliver accurate diagnostic insights for veterinary care.
Key Responsibilities:
Independently embed, cut, and stain various tissue types for microscopic analysis
Operate microtomes, automated tissue stainers, and related histology equipment
Mount, dye, and troubleshoot slides using routine and special staining techniques
Perform and review H&E and IHC slides for quality and consistency
Assist with molecular pathology or electron microscopy techniques as needed
Maintain and clean equipment within the anatomic pathology lab
Execute daily quality control checks on stains and instruments
Identify and resolve procedural issues to ensure test reliability
Document all procedures and results with precision and accuracy
Collaborate with internal veterinary pathologists and lab staff
Required Experience:
Associate’s degree in a life sciences discipline
2+ years of hands-on experience in histology
Proficiency with tissue embedding, microtomy, and staining techniques
Nice-to-Have Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
HT or HTL Certification in Histology
Exposure to molecular or advanced diagnostic methodologies
Required Skills:
Tissue preparation and staining (H&E, IHC)
Operation of histology lab equipment
Attention to detail and quality assurance
Preferred Skills:
Troubleshooting of histology processes
Laboratory data entry and documentation
Communication and collaboration in clinical settings
Additional Skills :
Minimal supervision required
Slide review for quality assurance
Flexibility to complete additional lab tasks
English fluency required
