Graduate Assistant – Library Archives Assistant Edgewood University’s Oscar Rennebohm Library has a graduate assistant position available for master’s candidates in Library and Information Studies as an Archives Assistant. Hours for the 8- to 10-hour per week position are flexible based on mutual agreement between the candidate and archives staff. Responsibilities: As the Archive Assistant, you will work hands-on with both physical and digital collections. This graduate assistantship is an opportunity to contribute in an immediate way to an institutional archives at a moment of heightened visibility and anticipation. You will gain concrete experience in processing materials, developing protocols and local practices, and promoting archival resources to diverse stakeholders. Potential projects include creating finding aids for previously unprocessed materials as well as digitizing photographs and other items, creating metadata, and updating digital collections. Based on the candidate’s interests and experience, projects could extend beyond processing to include exhibit design, social media outreach, as well as other outreach and programming for events and centennial celebrations. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Be currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited Library and Information Studies program Be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment Enjoy detail and possess strong organizational skills Exhibit creativity, thoroughness, and patience when working through projects Have taken at least an introductory archives course and be familiar with best practices for archivists (experience with ArchivesSpace and CONTENTdm a plus) Salary: $4,000 per semester (no tuition remission) Opportunity for summer employment may be available at an additional $3,800 Other Qualifications: Edgewood University, a Catholic college sponsored by the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa, is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to academic excellence through diversity in its faculty, staff, and students.
