Job Description

The New York Sports Science Lab (Staten Island, NY) is currently seeing candidates for an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach Position. In a fitness facility located at a private high school, this position would be focused on running weight room classes during the school day as well as assisting with sports teams after school. There is an opportunity for the right candidate to take on their own teams as time goes on. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations within the facility, including but not limited to:
  • Design and implementation of
  • Strength & conditioning programs
  • Flexibility & mobility protocols
  • Speed, agility & conditioning programs
  • Creation and Implementation of a youth-athletic development Phys Ed Class
  • General upkeep and care of the facility
  • Provide expertise, guidance, and training in strength training and physical conditioning for all students.
  • Supervise and assist with gym classes – educating on proper movement, goal setting and weight room behavior.
  • Assist in the testing and tracking of our assessment protocols to ensure the effectiveness of our training programs.
  • Work in a cohesive manner with both the Head of Olympic Sports and Head of Football operations to provide the best environment for our student athletes.

Salary: 40,000-45,000/ Year

Qualifications:

  • Candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in either Physical Education, Exercise Science, or a related field. 
  • Nationally recognized certification in Strength and Conditioning preferred (HSSCC, CSCS).
  • We would be willing to accept a candidate with a Personal Training Certificate (NASM, NSCA, etc.,), though the candidate would either need coaching experience in large groups or be looking to take the CSCS or HSSCC exam in the future.
