Position Summary:

The Aerospace Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, installing, and inspecting aircraft components and systems in accordance with engineering specifications, technical drawings, and quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and compliance in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble aerospace components and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, and structural assembly tasks on aircraft parts and systems.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure parts meet quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including inspection reports and production logs.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FAA, AS9100).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Operate within cleanroom or controlled environments when required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required, technical certification or associate degree in aerospace, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing assembly.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with torque specifications, fastener types, and aerospace materials.
  • Experience with measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and inspection techniques.
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with aircraft systems (hydraulics, avionics, structures).
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and digital work instructions.
  • Certifications such as IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) are a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing floor and assembly areas.
  • May involve exposure to noise, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
